Digital Decade

In January 2023, the European Union's Digital Decade programme came into force, which is a monitoring and cooperation mechanism to achieve common goals between the European Commission and the Member States for Europe's digital transformation by 2030.

In particular, the digital targets of the above programme are analysed below:

  • to increase the population with digital skills and highly qualified digital professionals, while aiming for the achievement of a gender balance
  • increasing the 'digital intensity' of businesses through the use of technologies
  • increasing online secure accessibility for the provision of basic services and transactions to citizens by the country's public services
  • creating secure, resilient, efficient and sustainable digital infrastructures

At national level, the Digital Transformation Bible 2020 - 2025 (DTB 2020 - 2025) sets out the strategy for digital transformation and the plan for its implementation, based on specific flagship projects, through a process of co-design with all stakeholders and civil society.

It is worth noting that the 1st annual assessment of the DTB (https://digitalstrategy.gov.gr/valuation_pdf ) has recently been completed with the collection of relevant data, as well as the preparation of the National Roadmap within the framework of the European Digital Decade 2030 programme (https://digitalstrategy.gov.gr/website/static/website/assets/uploads/digital_decade_national_roadmap.pdf), which are available on the Authority's website: https://digitalstrategy.gov.gr

At the same time, the need to revise the existing national digital strategy with a direct impact on the digital transformation of the country was raised. At the present time the Ministry of Digital Governance is working with commitment in this direction.
